Ecuavolley stands for Ecuador's unique version of volleyball. Ecuador is a country in South America.
After football (Americans read soccer!), Ecuavolley is among Ecuador's most popular sports.
Ecuavolley is particularly part of recreation sports culture in the country (like recreation sports Americans play on weeknights and weekends such as softball, etc).
HOW ECUAVOLLEY DIFFERS FROM REGULAR VOLLEYBALL:
#1 Each team has three players: a setter, flyer, and server
#2 Most often played with a soccer ball
#3 The receiver can hold the ball but it can only be for a quick second!
#4 15 points determines a set
Some other differences include:
- Underhand use of one hand to return the ball
- The net; it's a little higher
- Wagering (betting) is HUGE (especially among men!)
